I Recommend: 'Life in a Day' (YouTube Film)

I'm back, people! I just looked it up and saw that it has been two months since I last posted on here. And I deeply apologize. May and June have been extremely busy for me: May for work reasons, and June for personal reasons (vacation), and then the procrastination afterwards. But I know I need to get back into it, and what better way than with a recommendation, which has been a signature piece here.

So let's get right into it. Here is what I Recommend:

I Recommend: 'Game Change' Book, 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' (US)

My last Recommendations of the Week were a few weeks ago. And I apologize for the long wait. I didn't realize it had been that long, and I can't believe how busy I got. Fortunately, I'm back this weekend for another go-round.

But I'm changing it up just a little bit. Ever since I started this recommendations segment back when this blog launched in January, it has always been called Recommendations of the Week. And the reason why it was called that was because it did start out as a weekly segment. But I don't always have something to recommend every single week, so the title doesn't necessarily fit anymore. During the next couple weeks or so, I may test out some different variations of the same name (as well as a few formatting changes). It may be "I Recommend" or possible "My Recommendations." I'll let you know when one sticks for good.

So let's get right into it. Here is what I Recommend this time around:

Game Change by John Heilemann & Mark Halperin

Quote of the Week: Albert Einstein

This week's Quote of the Week comes courtesy of Albert Einstein. Usually, my quotes have been connected to either writing or some holiday or event happening during that particular week. This week, however, I want to share a quote that I'm sure has a lot of meaning to all of us.

Here is this week's Quote of the Week:

"Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new."
--Albert Einstein

You may have noticed that I took last week off. There were no Recommendations of the Week, Quotes, Videos/Photos or anything of the sort. In terms of the recommendations, I didn't feel there was enough substance for me to provide one. But I'm back this week full-on with some great recommendations. So here they are...

Video of the Week: The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore

I'll admit, this week's Video of the Week is probably my favorite video I've shared on this blog. This past Sunday at the Oscars, The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film (I'm pleased to say that I correctly predicted this short to win).

And now that it's won, they have posted the full length short film on YouTube. I watched it yesterday and fell in love instantly. If you're a book lover like I am, you'll also love it. It follows our main character who seems to be a book lover as well. There's a big storm and we get a sort of Wizard of Oz feel to it for the first little bit. After that, it takes on a life of its own as he walks into a bookstore and the entire short is all about books. The concept is unique and brilliant. The animation, just as strong. I won't give everything away here, because I want you to experience it full for yourself.

Quote of the Week: Gary Henderson on Putting Off Writing

Since I am in the early stages of writing a book, I have some quotes lined up that fit in well with where I am at in this process. Today's is particularly fitting, and I'll explain why. Here is this week's Quote of the Week:

"Never put off writing until you are better at it."
--Gary Henderson
